The fans were clearly in anticipation for this one, giving both competitors a resounding ovation as they made their way to the ring. The match started with a handshake between the two; a rarity in an MWA contest. From there, a collar-and-elbow tie-up started the match between the two. Worthington started things out with an arm drag takedown into an overhand wristlock. Though, it took some effort, Kacy would get to her feet. Worthington retained the wristlock, forcing Kacy into a bridge. Kacy would power out of the bridge before forcing Worthington into the ropes. Kacy would attempt an Irish whip, Worthington would counter it; Kacy ducked beneath a clothesline attempt then caught Worthington with a spinning heel kick. As Worthington got to his feet, Kacy caught him with a dropkick, sending him collapsing through the top and middle rope down to the floor.
Instead of going for Worthington on the outside, Kacy sat on the middle rope nearest Worthington, holding them open for him while allowing him to recover as best he could from the spill. Worthington would climb back into the ring, Kacy giving him room once he actually got to the ropes. With a nod, the two would circle the ring once more. Coming together in the center, Worthington would come out of the tie-up with a side headlock. Kacy, being one of the stronger women on the roster, would counter with a side suplex, bridging as best she could. Only getting a one-count for her trouble, Worthington would retain his hold on the side headlock, rolling it to crank on her neck. Kacy would quickly apply a waistlock, countering back into a pinning predicament, Kacy is able to get a quick two-count before Worthington could get back into a seated position.
Kacy would get up to one knee, with Worthington wrenching on her head. Once to her feet, Kacy connects with a series of elbows to Worthington’s midsection. Kacy connects with a series of forearm shivers, dazing Worthington before shoving him against the ropes. Kacy shoves him across the ring; Worthington comes off the ropes then hops over Kacy. Worthington hits the ropes, Kacy leapfrogs over him. They repeat this exchange a couple more times; on the third, Worthington counters the leapfrog into a power bodyslam for a two-count.
Worthington pulls Kacy off the mat then whips her into the ropes, following it up with a running clothesline. Worthington with a few forearm shivers in the corner before whipping Kacy hard across the ring. Kacy bounces out of the corner, collapsing to the mat onto her back. Worthington pulls Kacy up then quickly applies a backbreaker. Worthington with a lateral press for one before Kacy pulls her right shoulder up off the mat. Worthington pulls her up once more before whipping her across the ring; Worthing catches Kacy, driving her to the mat with a textbook belly-to-belly suplex then hooking her leg for two.
The crowd appears to be getting into the match now as Worthington applies a bearhug in the center of the ring. For added leverage, he hoists Kacy up off the mat, swinging her from side to side.
Referee Pedro Diaz checks on Kacy, looking to see if she’s going to submit, to no avail. Worthington keeps her in the hold for a long time; Kacy seems to be fading. Once she’s nearly motionless, Pedro pulls Kacy’s left arm up in the air, holds it in place then releases. Her arm falls limp to her side. Pedro repeats the process, only to achieve the same result. On the third time, Kacy’s arm only falls to the point of being parallel to the mat. With the crowd behind her, Kacy rings Worthington’s bells, forcing him to loosen his grip. She rings his bells a second time, Worthington’s grip loosens enough for Kacy’s feet to hit the mat. On the third time, Worthington completely releases the hold; Kacy catches him with a jawbreaker. With Worthington reeling, Kacy connects with a swinging neckbreaker.
Kacy pulls Worthington up to his feet, connects with a boot to the midsection then quickly applies a Triangle Lancer near the center of the ring. She has the hold cinched in, but Worthington refuses to submit. Once she realizes that she’s not going to get the submission, she releases the hold, allowing Worthington the opportunity to get to his feet. Once he’s on his feet, though, Kacy goes for a Busaiku Knee Kick; Worthington ducks near the ropes and Kacy ends up in a VERY precarious situation as she straddles the top rope.
Unfortunately, thanks to the Triangle Lancer, Worthington isn’t able to take advantage right away. Once he does recover, he whips her into the ropes then drives her into the mat with a textbook spinebuster slam. Pulling Kacy up off the mat right away, he applies a front facelock, hoists her in the air then holds her there for quite some time before finally falling backward to complete the stalling suplex. He floats over for the lateral press; Kacy barely kicks out before three. Pressing the advantage, Worthington pulls Kacy up, whips her into the ropes then attempts a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, only for Kacy to counter into a head scissors takedown.
Kacy attempts the Triangle Lancer once more, but Worthington counters into a T-Bone suplex. Worthington goes for the cover, but is only able to secure a two-count once more. Worthington pulls Kacy up then whips her into the corner. Worthington charges, catching Kacy with a running forearm. He quickly hoists Kacy up to the top rope then applies a front facelock after a forearm shiver. Worthington climbs to the middle rope, then stands on the top rope; SUPERPLEX!
Pedro Diaz gets to a count of 8 before Worthington is able to drape his arm over a prone Kacy. Once more, he’s incapable of securing the pin. Worthington applies Atlantic 24 (elevated Boston Crab) in the center of the ring; receiving a HUGE pop from the crowd. Kacy REFUSES to submit, enduring the pain for quite some time. She shows off her resolve, muscling her way toward the ropes. Finally reaching them, Pedro calls for the break.
Worthington pulls Kacy up once more. A kick to the midsection seems to be the opening that Worthington needs as he backs against the ropes. Building a head of steam, Worthington appears to be going for Hope ‘n Glory (Fame Asser); Kacy has it scouted, spins him around then drills him into the mat with a hard DDT. Unfortunately, she isn’t able to secure the pin once covering him.
Favoring her back, Kacy goes back on the offensive, catching Worthington with a series of forearms. Kacy whips Worthington across the ring then connects with a dropkick. Another dropkick sends Worthington into the ropes. Kacy charges, looking for a clothesline; Worthington counters with a back body drop over the top rope, but Kacy catches herself, landing on her feet on the apron. When Worthington spins around, Kacy catches him with a boot to the midsection then vaults over him for a Sunset Flip. Pedro gets to two before Worthington is able to kick out.
Both wrestlers scramble to their feet; Worthington attempts a clothesline but Kacy ducks beneath it, hooking Worthington’s arms then dropping her center of gravity. Kacy successfully manages to catch Worthington in a back slide; Pedro gets to two before Worthington wriggles free. Worthington and Kacy get up at the same time; Kacy catches Worthington in the midsection with a boot before following up with a knee lift. Staggered, Worthington falls victim to another head scissors takedown from Kacy. Worthington scrambles to his feet; Kacy attempts a hurricanrana, but Worthington counters into a powerbomb. Worthington covers; Pedro nearly hits the mat for the third time before Kacy kicks out.
Worthington attempts to pull Kacy up off the mat; Kacy counters with a small package. The crowd erupts when Pedro’s hand hits the mat for the third time; Worthington’s shoulder shoots up off the mat a split-second too late.
Pedro raises Kacy’s hand as Worthington recovers, realizing what’s just happened. Though, clearly shaking his head with frustration, Worthington stands then extends his right hand toward Kacy. The two shake on it, receiving a well-deserved ovation from the crowd in response.
