PSW: August in 4-Man Battle Royal

Match report from peachstatewrestling.blogspot.co.uk

Adrian Hunter made his way to the ring as “Face to Face” by Chevelle played. Hunter made an impressive debut last month, in a losing bid for the tag titles, but he would have another opportunity to gain the tag championships, if he were to win this battle royal. The crowd clap for him, earning their respect last month.

“Walk” by Foo Fighters began, as “The People’s Champion” Johnny Royal made his way to the ring. The crowd went crazy as the local Royal came to the ring. He may have fought to a draw last month with Dixie Leigh, but he has already won the hearts of the fans.

“OK, Time for Plan B” by Shikari plays, and out comes “The People’s Choice” August Joyce. The crowd cheers for him, and personally, I would love for either Joyce or Royal to win this match, and then for the other one to be drawn, because think about it…then they could be “The People’s Tag Team!” OK, that’s just me, but I think it would be funny.

How have they not brought that up before?

“Here for the Party” by Gretchen Wilson and the crowd are on their feet as Dixie Leigh makes her way to the ring. The crowd has always loved Dixie, and truth be told, in her short time back, she might be the crowd favorite wrestler in Peach State at the moment. People like Blaine and Kit are popular, but they don’t get that same reaction that they get when Dixie’s music hits.

All four of them are in the ring, each in their own corner, as they size each other up, as Empires prepares to start the match.

What’s interesting about this match is the fact that the crowd likes everyone in it to certain degrees. They all have their favorites, but I don’t think they would be upset if anyone won this match.

And there went the bell, and the match has begun in this over the top battle royal. Dixie and Royal eye each other once again, and they go straight for each other, picking up right where they left off last month, locking horns once again. They trade control, until Royal is able to push Dixie into the corner.

On the other side, August and Adrian, who were tag team partners last month, locked up, with Adrian, getting the quick advantage with an arm bar. August quickly reverses it into one of his own, but Adrian reverses it once again, into a hammerlock. August reaches up, grabbing ahold of Adrian’s head, and forcing him into the corner, where he kicks off the second turnbuckle, and flipping over behind Adrian. He grabs Adrian from behind, and lifts him up, bringing him down with a big German suplex.

Royal lets go of Dixie, before nailing her with a knife edge chop. Dixie cringes in pain, but fires back with one of her own. Royal takes a step back, only to nail her with another one, but Dixie hits one of her own, and then nails him with a quick jab. Royal takes another step back, but fires back with a left hand. Dixie drops back into the corner. Royal tries to grab Dixie, but Dixie drives a side kick into his gut. Royal stumbles backwards, doubling over. Dixie leaps up onto the second rope, and leaps off, catching Royal with a flying forearm, taking Royal down.

August lifts Adrian to his feet, but Adrian drives his shoulder into August’s gut, doubling him over. Adrian gets up, bringing his knee straight into August’s head. August flies backwards into the corner. Adrian leaps at him, planting his feet into his gut, going for a monkey flip, but August grabs ahold of the ropes, not letting Adrian drop backwards. Adrian loses his balance, and August takes advantage of it, grabbing ahold of Adrian, and dumping him over the top rope.

Adrian lands, feet first on the apron, grabbing a hold of the top rope to keep himself from being eliminated. August turns around, and Adrian nails him with a right hand. August stumbles, but turns right back, with a right hand of his own into Adrian’s head. Adrian nearly loses his grip, but some how manages to hold on. Adrian fires back with a right, then a left, then another right, before bringing both his fists together, clapping August’s head. August stumbles away from the ropes, holding his head, as Adrian gets a big cheer for his success, but just as quickly as he gets that, August turns around, and leaps into the air, connecting both feet with a dropkick. Adrian flies off the apron, crashing to the floor below, being eliminated.

Adrian can’t believe it, and neither can the fans, at the quick elimination, however, then they cheer August, as he gets back to his feet, his arms into the air. August quickly turns, knowing there are two other people in this match, but he sees Royal down, and Dixie getting back to her feet. He rushes behind her, going for another German suplex, but despite being taken by surprise, Dixie flips over the top of August, landing on her feet behind him. August quickly turns around, but walks right into a dropkick from Dixie. August flies backwards, dropping to one knee, but quickly gets back to his feet. Dixie leaps at him with a cross body block, but August catches her, and rolls with it, slamming her down with a powerslam.

August rolls off of her, getting to his feet, just as Royal uses the ropes to pull himself up. He turns, right into a toe kick from August. Royal doubles over, and August grabs his arms, and flips him backwards with a quick snap suplex. Royal lands hard, holding his back, as August gets right back to his feet, the crowd behind him now. He lifts Royal to his knees, but Royal drives a punch into his gut, stopping him for a moment, before grabbing ahold of him, rolling him up in a small package, despite the fact that pinfalls don’t count.

Most people would call this a dumb move, but from that position, it’s one of the few moves you could do. It allowed Royal an extra second or two to catch his breath, before August kicked out, quickly getting back to his feet, but it also allowed Royal to roll away. August goes after him again, but this time, Royal is able to pick his foot off, tripping August up, putting him on his back, as Royal immediately drops back with a quick single leg lock. The pain on August’s face is immediate, as Royal sinks in the submission move.

However, as he does so, Dixie gets back to her feet. She looks at the scene, and then rushes into the ropes, leaping up onto the second one, and springboard backwards, crashing down on top of Royal with a moonsault. August is able to free himself from Royal’s hold after the moonsault, and grabs ahold of the ropes to pull himself up. Dixie is back to her feet as well, turning toward August. She rushes him, leaping up into the air, but August steps forward, catching her around her waist, before dropping backwards, dropping her across the top rope with a hot shot type move. Dixie drops to both knees, holding her throat.

August gets up, lifting Dixie to her feet, and sends her flying into the ropes. She comes back, right into a running knee strike. She goes down, and August is the only one left standing. He turns around, seeing Royal starting to get to his feet. Royal pulls himself up using the ropes, and August rushes behind him, grabbing him, and dropping him backwards with a Russian Leg Sweep.

Royal grabs his head after it bounces off the mat. August gets back to his feet, lifting Royal up. He sends him to the other side of the ropes, having him rebound back. August goes for a clothesline, but Royal ducks it. The two go to opposite sides, ready for another collision, but August ducks a clothesline attempt by Royal, but out of nowhere, Dixie leaps up with a flying leg lariat, connecting with the incoming Royal. Royal goes down, as August comes back, using the ropes to stop his momentum. He was not expecting Dixie to be standing front of him.

Dixie nails him with a right hand, using the surprise to her advantage. August is rocked against the ropes, but comes back with an inside elbow. He nails her with another one and another one, before driving her backwards with a big European uppercut. Dixie stumbles backwards, before August grabs her, and sends her straight toward the ropes at clothesline, trying to use both of their momentum to send her over the top. He doesn’t quite do it, as Dixie grabs ahold of the top rope, and slides between the top and middle, before kicking her feet upwards, and catching August straight in the head with her foot. August stumbles backwards, holding his head, as Dixie slips back between the ropes, turning around, only to see August rushing straight toward her.

She drops down, grabbing the top rope, and this time, August’s momentum carries him over the top rope. At the last moment, he realizes what is happening, and grabs the top rope, holding on for dear life as his feet struggle to find the apron. Dixie gets to her feet, just as August finds his footing, turning himself around on the apron, right before Dixie drives an inside elbow into him. August almost falls right there, but instead, grabs ahold of Dixie’s head, using her for leverage to keep from falling. He pulls himself to balance, and then nails her with a big chop across her chest, before grabbing ahold of her, and actually going for a suplex to the outside. The crowd can’t believe what he’s about to do, but as he lifts her up, she brings her knee straight down into the crown of his head. August wobbles, and slips backwards, sending them both off the apron.

The crowd holds their breath as they both fall to the floor, but some how, in mid-air, Dixie turns and twists, coming out of the suplex hold, as August lands back first on the floor below, but Dixie lands, knee into August’s stomach. Dixie jumps up, and leaps from August’s chest back to the ring apron, in one fluid, unbelievable motion, as Empires points that August has been eliminated, but Dixie never touched the floor.

The crowd went crazy, and it’s a move that I pray shows up on Youtube later from one of the fans at ringside, because it’s an amazing sight to see. Dixie climbs back into the ring, as Royal gets back to his feet, leaving the last two competitors upright, just like they were last month, only this time, it’s impossible to fight to a draw. One of them must walk out of here the winner.

They lock-up, and Royal gets the advantage with an arm bar, but Dixie twists out of it, coming up behind Royal, taking him down with a waistlock take down. She then twists around, wrapping him with a rear headlock, but Royal pulls out of it, both getting back to their feet, as Royal grabs ahold of her, lifting up, and delivering a huge belly to belly suplex, taking her to the mat. Royal gets back to his feet, rushing to the ropes. Dixie sits up, but is nailed by Royal with a quick running dropkick. Dixie falls back down, holding her chest from the pain. Royal gets her up, and immediately sends her to the ropes, but Dixie leaps up, her feet catching the top rope, and rockets herself backwards, flipping over the top of him, and landing on her feet. Royal quickly turns around, only to walk right into a step-up enziguri. Royal is rocked. He takes a step, before dropping to one knee. Dixie runs to the ropes, and comes back, leaping into the air, before coming down, grabbing ahold of Royal’s head, and driving it into the mat with a face plant.

Dixie gets back to her feet, and immediately points to the top rope. She stands on the top of it, looks around, and then leaps off, flipping and twisting in mid-air, coming crashing down right on top of Royal with a move we haven’t seen since before she left…the D-Lite!

If all Dixie had to do was pin him, this match would be over, but she had to get him up and throw him over the top rope. Unfortunately, a move like the D-Lite takes almost as much out of the person doing it, as the person getting hit by it. Dixie was slow to get up, and just as she gets to her feet, Royal starts to move as well.

Dixie stumbles, trying to regain her footing, but then moves over to Royal. She begins to lift him up, but he shoves her back. She goes to pick him up again, but once again, Royal shoves her backwards. Dixie goes toward him again, but this time, turns, and drives a hard side kick into Royal’s head. Royal drops to the side again. This time, Dixie goes to pull him up, he doesn’t resist. She pushes him into the ropes, before sending him to the other side. He hits the ropes hard, and Dixie follows right behind him, but as soon as he hits the ropes, he rolls over the top of them, grabbing them, and pulling them down, as he hangs on to them for dear life. However, Dixie doesn’t have any opportunity to stop, as she hits the ropes. With no top rope in place to take her weight, she flips over it, past Royal, and crashes to the floor below, as Royal drops to a sitting position on the apron.

The crowd is stunned at the suddenness of it, but at the same time, begin to applaud as they realize the victor. Royal rolls back into the ring and gets to his feet, his arms int he air. He’s getting a shot at the tag championship, but who his partner will be, will be very, very interesting, because there’s a good shot, that it’s one of the people he just beat in this match.
