AJ#21: August in August

NB. This video was recorded prior to the announcement of Dixie Leigh’s withdrawl from Uprising.

[August Joyce is stood in the Peach State Wrestling ring, just a few days removed from their latest show, Uprising. He looks confident and ready for action as the camera begins rolling.]

So here we are again, Dixieland Fun Park. I’m beginning to enjoy myself here, this move was quite possibly the best career decision I’ve ever made. I’m back to my roots, I’m learning new things again and I’m in the best shape of my life.

And I’m coming off the back of my first Peach State defeat; at the hands of Tara Michaels. I think I pissed her off just a little too much prior to the match, gave her an extra incentive to whoop my ass. Plus she’s a hell of a wrestler any way, I have to give her credit where it’s due.

And now, in just a few short days, we get to do it all again. Right here in this very ring. But this time I have her husband in my corner and she has Dixie Leigh in hers. And the Peach State Tag-Team Championships are on the line.

[August has his title draped over his left shoulder and he takes it down and looks it for a moment.]

There’s nothing worse than dropping a belt on your first defence. It’s something no wrestler ever wants to go through. I’m no different. So I’ll be trying extra hard to make sure Tara and Dixie go home disappointed and empty handed.

And if their twitter exchanges are anything to go by we could be in for some fireworks at Uprising. Tara and Dixie are not the closest of friends by any stretch of the imagination. They went at each other non stop for about a week after the match was announced. I just sat back and enjoyed every moment of it. Let’s be honest, any team that’s so far off being on the same page is going to be interesting to witness.

They could turn against one another before the bell has even rung. They could knock each other out without the need for Jace or I to get involved. But… they could just surprise everyone and work together. They could be the next PSW Tag-Team Champions.

[August pauses, putting the championship belt back over his shoulder. He leans on the ropes as he looks down into the camera.]

As for my partner, Jace is on a crusade at the moment. He calls it a rebellion. And all power to him. He’s been treated like a piece of crap by the NWA and wants to prove what an error it was to strip Ascended Supremacy of their titles, and to cancel matches he and Tara were due to participate in. Some people just don’t realise how much these matches can mean to us wrestlers. To have a pay day ripped out from under you can be devastating.

Fortunately for Jace and Tara they have Peach State. And they have their little foray into High Octane Wrestling too. Their stock is rising, no doubt about that. I’m sure that in an ideal world they’d want to hold these tag titles together, not be fighting each other for them. But that’s the joy of PSW’s Tag-Team division for you.

Jace is so much on his little crusade that I hope he doesn’t neglet his duties as Peach State Wrestling Tag-Team Champion. His eyes better be on these belts and not on whatever’s happening in HOW, the fallout from their appearance there and the events of Laser Tag.

[He pauses, thinking back to the Laser Tag event. He was still a little disappointed to have been eliminated but kinda glad he managed to tag Jace once.]

Whatever happens at Uprising is just another step on the road for me. If we retain these titles then I get to spend at least another month with championship gold draped over my shoulder, and let’s be honest that’s never a bad thing. Should we lose, so be it. It’ll free me up to go solo again and I’ll chalk it up to a learning experience. You see at this point in my career every step, be it forward or backward, is a step in the right direction!
