The screen is black. There is the sound of crowds chatting and walking, aircraft taking off and landing and then a loud tone followed by a tannoy announcement. The picture fades up to reveal a departure lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport. There’s a man, back to the camera once again, looking up at the departure board while people buzz around him snapping up some bargains in the duty free shops. The board shows a flight’s status change to “Now Boarding” and the man begins to walk away.
“I’ve had a nice little break.”
The screen cuts to black again and the sound stops dead. After a brief moment there is the same set of sounds again, although of a lesser decibel level. The picture fades up to reveal another departure lounge, Vancouver International Airport, and another long list of flights. Another man looks out at them, his back to the camera once more. The tannoy announcement comes that his flight is now boarding and he picks up his suitcase and walks away.
“My spirit was about to break.”
Again the screen cuts to black and the noise turns to silence.
“Now it’s time to break a few doors down.”
