MWA: Tim & August at BattleZone

[Backstage “The Peoples Choice” August Joyce is walking down a corridor as a door opens and his partner and friend, Tim Worthington, steps out in front of him.]

TW: Oh hey, August, there you are.

AJ: Been looking for you, what’s up?

TW: Just on my way to the ring, got something I need to get off my chest. What is it you wanted to see me for?

AJ: I’ve been thinking, about me and the MWA. Wanted to talk to you about it.

TW: Sounds serious. Let’s walk and talk…

[The two men walk down the corridor together as we follow along, keeping up with their conversation.]

AJ: I’m not sure coming back here was a good idea, at least not yet. I think it was a step too far, too soon.

TW: It’s not been the best of comebacks for us, let’s be honest. I can understand how you’re thinking, but are you sure stepping away would be a wise move? That is what you’re getting at, right?

AJ: [nodding] Yea. I just feel that with my history here, I’m just not going to be able to get past that. Not yet. Especially with Toews around, interviewing everyone that had anything to do with the War for the MWA. I need something new, something that’s going to help me grow… to continue the work I’ve been doing down in Peach State.

TW: Sounds like you have a plan already.

AJ: I do. I’m entering the ULTRATITLE Tournament. Throwing myself in at the deep end and seeing where the current takes me. Me, Jackson, Kev Hardaway and 125 other people all vying to become the Ultimate Champion.

[Tim smiles at his friend.]

TW: Well I’ll be damned, August Joyce is taking charge of his life.

AJ: You don’t think I’m running away?

TW: [shaking his head] No. You’ve worked out what you need to do and how you’re going to do it. You’re not afraid to make changes in your life, August, I like that about you. It was a big move coming back to the MWA in the first place, facing your past like that. You still don’t feel rid of that, so why not go do something else, become a better wrestler. Then come back and own these bastards. I say good luck to you.

[Tim offers his hand to August, who shakes it with a smile.]

AJ: Thanks, Tim. I appreciate all you’ve done for me.

TW: Likewise, AJ.

AJ: Wait a sec, what is it you’re going out there to say?

TW: You’ll see…

[Tim walks off screen towards the entrance area, leaving August looking on, confused.]
