Check out how August did against the Fox Industries client at Peach State’s Cinco de Mayo!
We started the night with “The People’s Choice” August Joyce taking on a new comer to Peach State Wrestling and member of Fox Industries, Ricardo Esteban. Joyce comes out first to Enter Shikari’s “OK, Time for Plan B.” The crowd gives him a proper entrance, both for his status with Peach State, and being the first superstar they’ve seen tonight. Joyce comes out with confidence, but he has to be feeling the pressure here tonight. Since his return, he has been winless. He wants a shot at that Peach State title, and if he has any hopes of doing so, he has to get some wins and move up the rankings.
Ricardo Esteban came out to a mixed reaction as the crowd doesn’t know how to react to him, despite the fact that his manager / agent seems to be a bit of an asshole. However, he changes the mixed reaction to one of all boos as he climbs into the ring, and immediately slaps August Joyce across the face. Joyce turns, holding his jaw from the slap, as Esteban stands there, a smirk across his face. Joyce looked at John Empires, the referee for the match, like he was waiting for something. Then Empires motions for the match to officially start, and the bell rings, and Joyce nods, before turning and driving Esteban down with a huge clothesline.
Esteban gets up, but as soon as he gets up, Joyce grabs him, only to lift him up and slamming him down hard with the Qing Ri. Joyce immediately covers and gets a three count for his first win since his return. The crowd cheers, especially at the quick work of this newcomer. Joyce has his hands raised in the ring, when suddenly someone steps from the entrance.
It’s Kevin Fox, head of Fox Industries. He’s clapping. Joyce turns his attention to him, not quite sure why he’s there, especially seeing he said he wasn’t going to be there. Fox has a mic in his hand. He congratulates Joyce on a job well done for both his defeat here and his moving on in the Ultatitle Tournament.
The congratulations does not help with Joyce’s confussion. Fox then offers Joyce a chance to join Fox Industries as a client. Joyce stares at him dumbfounded, and then actually busts out laughing. Fox does not look amused.
He then smiles saying that he knew that Joyce wouldn’t know what was good for him and take this wonderful opportunity, so he wanted to make sure he was properly motivated.
Suddenly, a large man comes from behind, sliding in under the bottom rope, and clubs Joyce in the back of the head. Joyce struggles to get up, but the man clubs him across the back of the head again, before lifting him up to his feet. He drives a boot into his gut, before lifting him up into a powerbomb position, coming straight down in a sitting position. The man shoves Joyce off of him, as he gets back to his feet staring down at him.
Fox says he can take some time and think it over, but he’s already talked with Mr. Wilson, and Slim here will be his opponent at No Resolutions. He’ll expect his answer then. Fox and “Slim” walk to the exit, as Joyce attempts to recover in the ring.
I would find out later that apparently this Ricardo Esteban was never actually a member of Fox Industries. He was a guy that Fox hired to come out here and slap Joyce. Now, after that, I think things went a little off the books, because I expected Fox may have thought he would fair a little better against Joyce. However, this new guy is Sean “Slim” Coakley from Nassau, Bahamas. He’s a big monster of a man, and I seriously think that Joyce is going to have a lot tougher time taking him on than he did with Esteban.
