“Dude, you are in so much trouble.” Doi says as he takes the weights in his hands.
August looks confused. “What? Why?”
“Because a) You mocked your next opponent for having extremely large breasts. 2) You pissed off your wife for said discussion about another woman’s breasts and D) The woman in question is the wife of your tag-team partner.”
August thinks about that for a moment as Doi pumps the weights up and down a few times.
“Yea, ok, I can see how that would look. But Jace is cool with what I said, he knows it was all part of the match build up, nothing personal.”
“It’s not Jace I’d be worried about.” Doi says, smiling up at his friend.
“You think I should be worried about Tara?”
“Yea you should.” Doi begins. “But only inside the ring. She’s a tough one, she’s heard worse I’m sure. She won’t sweat it. But your wife? Man, Xanthe’s not gonna let you forget this one for a loooong time.”
August nods “Yea… this is true.”
Doi continues his workout in silence for a brief moment.
“You cut your latest promo yet?”
“Yup, all done.” August says.
“Did you talk about her boobs again?”
“No, I kept it strictly about her vagina.” August says with a straight face.
“WHAT!?”
Doi is so put off by what August said that he almost drops the weights. August has to lift them off and puts them back on the rack. Ben sits up. August reassures his friend.
“I’m kidding! Jeez, can you imagine what kind of horrible promo that would be?”
Ben nods. “I cut a promo about a woman’s vagina once.”
There is a long pause as Doi lets that sink in.
“You know the reason you never found success?” August asks his friend. “I think we just found it.”
Once again we find ourselves in the grounds of Dixieland Fun Park as the face of “The Peoples Choice” August Joyce fades into view.
“Peach State Wrestling has offered me a chance to rebuild my career and I’m grasping this opportunity with both hands. This past weekend I got a chance to go to the UK and I was so surprised by what I witnessed.”
“People as far as way as England knew what was going on in Peach State. We may not be a big company, we may not have a TV deal. But people pay attention to what happens here in Fayetteville. People care. They know that what we do means something. The Internet is a buzz with PSW talk and that spreads around the world like wild fire. People all over the world can watch these videos on YouTube, they read the forums, they listen to the podcasts and they eat up all this information.“
“And because of all of this people in England were asking me about what I thought about Peach State, how it felt to win the Tag-Team Championships, how it felt teaming with a man like Jace Parker Davidson and what I thought about Tara Michaels, the next opponent on my Peach State Wrestling Journey.”
“And I told those British fans what I’m about to tell you.”
“I love this company.”
“And that’s not because I’m unbeaten here. It’s not because I was named Wrestler of the Month. It’s not because I won the PSW Tag-Team Championships. It’s not because I’m now the number two ranked guy in the company.”
“It’s because Peach State is full of talent. As a performer I get to test myself against some of the best in the world, right here in Dixieland Fun Park!”
“Of course we have our share of idiots too, but I’m not here to talk about them. I’m here to talk about Tara Michaels.”
“Tara, I’m expecting my toughest Peach State match yet this week at Heatwave. I’m expecting the fight of my life. And not just as payback for what I said about you last month, but because I know you’re one hell of a wrestler.”
“I’ve had the opportunity to get to know your husband recently, the training and planning we put in ahead of June Jam not only paid off in our championship hunt but it also gave me an insight into the kind of guy he is. And though him I learned about the kind of woman you are.“
“As part of learning about Jace I watched a ton of videos of you and he in action.”
[August pauses.]
“That could sound wrong to a perverted ear. Naturally I mean your matches together as Ascended Supremacy. I picked up enough to know that you’re one tough bitch. But you know what? I think I actually make a better partner for Jace.“
[let’s that sink in for a moment.]
“Yea, I said that. I think that the Peoples Choice is a better fit than Tara Michaels. You know what else I think? I think Jace is the better half of Ascended Supremacy. A point that was proven at June Jam. You two get split up, he goes on to more success while you fall at the first hurdle.”
“Granted some of that will be because you were teamed with Trenton Williams. I mean, that’s some shitty luck right there. But at the end of the day you couldn’t even get one over on John Empires. Ouch.”
